Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has vowed never to sell any of his players to Manchester United again in light of Robin van Persie’s Premier League success.
The Gunners boss relented last summer and sanctioned the £24million sale of his captain to Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
This has backfired for Wenger as his side have struggled once again in the race to qualify for the Champions League, while Van Persie’s goals have fired Manchester United to their 20th title.
Van Persie returned to Emirates Stadium on Sunday to score the penalty that earned the champions a point after Theo Walcott’s opened the scoring early on.
Wenger was asked after the game if Ferguson was interested in signing any more Arsenal players.
“I don’t know but he will not sign them from us,” he responded.
Arsenal now have three games left before the end of the season, which they must win at all costs.
Wenger will be hoping Manchester United can be as stubborn when their top four rivals Chelsea travel to Old Trafford next weekend.
The race for Champions League qualification is as tight as ever and Arsenal were helped before the clash with Manchester United with Tottenham Hotspur only able to get a draw from their trip to Wigan Athletic.
