David Beckham was given a straight red card just six minutes after coming off the bench for Paris Saint-Germain in their 1-0 win over Evian last night (Sunday).

The 37-year-old midfielder was dismissed for an ugly-looking challenge on Youssef Adnane, although the former England captain didn’t make contact with the French striker.

Javier Pastore gave PSG the lead on 50-minutes, before Marco Verratti was dismissed for the visitors.

Beckham’s red put the Ligue 1 leaders down to nine-men, with assistant coach Claude Makelele then sent to the stands for remonstrating with officials over the decision.

And, Evian's Saber Khelifa and PSG's Salvatore Sirigu also saw red after the final whistle as a tempestuous match bubbled over.

The Parisian giants now have a nine-point lead over Marseille with just four matches remaining, but it was Beckham’s red which will gain attention around the world.
