Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has denied reports in the British press that he cheated on girlfriend Irina Shayk with a Brazilian model known as Miss BumBum.

According to The Sun, Ronaldo had an affair with Andressa Urach two days before Real Madrid's crushing defeat to Borussia Dortmund last week, having sent her a number of racy texts in the lead up to the illicit activity.

Ronaldo, however, has released a statement refuting the allegations published on Sunday, claiming he was at the Villa Magna hotel in Madrid - the supposed location of the affair - to conduct an interview, and had no dealings with Miss Urach.

"I was informed that “The Sun” newspaper, faithful to its editorial line, will publish an article where is given voice to a so called Andressa, someone seeking the limelight on my account," the former Manchester United star posted on his Facebook page.

"And I wonder why this happens one day before a very important game for my team… Deeply outraged by a situation intended, in vain, to afect [sic] my personal life, I just want to clarify that I was in fact at the Hotel Villa Magna on April 22nd giving an interview to Manu Sainz, something the reporter himself is able to corroborate. Everything else is pure fiction and forgery."

Ronaldo, meanwhile, continues to be linked with a summer transfer back to Manchester United amid suggestions he has grown tired with life as a Real Madrid player.

The 28-year-old left Manchester United for Real Madrid in a world record £80 million deal in the summer of 2009, and reports claim Ronaldo could move back to Old Trafford before August's transfer deadline.
