Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a move for Everton defender Leighton Baines.

The Sunday People claims Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen on the England international, and could bring the left-back to White Hart Lane for around £12million.

Baines has also been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, with the same paper reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson had set his sights on the 28-year-old as part of a summer spending spree.

However, a £15million asking price is sighted as a stumbling block for the Red Devils, who have pursued the player for 24 months.

The paper claims that price is now set to be lowered, with Baines’ current contract at Goodison Park set to expire in two-years.

Villas-Boas is in the market for a full-back, with Benoit Assou-Ekotto tipped to leave Spurs at the end of the season.

Fabio Coentrao is also on the Tottenham Hotspur radar, according to the report, but Baines is likely to be a cheaper option for the north London club.
