Gareth Bale scooped a historic double last night at the PFA awards, claiming both the Player of the Season and the Young Player of the Season prizes - becoming only the third player to do since the awards began in 1974.

The Premier League Team of the Season was also announced at the ceremony in London last night - with no less than four Manchester United players making the team.

There was of course some controversy surrounding the picks - for instance why did Bale get the nod over Robin van Persie, a shoe-in for the Golden Boot and newly crowned Premier League champion?

And why wasn't Michu a nominee for the main prize or included in the team of the season? Should Suarez's misdemeanours be considered as a factor when deciding if he deserved ot be the Player of the Season?

Well we thought it was about time GMF waded in. We've polled all our writers and got their team and player of the season, as well as asking for a manager of the season.

All the votes have been combined to produce the GMF Premier League Team of the Season and Player of the Season.

Click through to see who wins our illustrious (ahem) player of the season award and who makes the team, while at the end you can see how each individual writer voted. Enjoy.
