Over the past two seasons, three strikers have come to the forefront of European Football's consciousness: Atletico Madrid's Radamel Falcao, Napoli's Edinson Cavani, and Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski.

As per usual, the Premier League's elite clubs have expressed their desire to bring one or the other to either London or Manchester in order to build upon already expensively assembled squads.

However, with Premier League team's poor displays in the Champions League this season, and perhaps a revived interest in the rising force of the Bundesliga, where might these sought after strikers end up?

For those who were not already aware of his talents, Radamel Falcao announced his presence on the European and world stage with his Super-Cup hat-rick against Chelsea last August.

Since then, his victims in Monaco have heavily coveted him. Naturally only a handful of clubs have the ability to coax his signature, what with a buy out clause believed to be between fifty-three and sixty million Euros.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be a huge fan, and was keen on brining him across Madrid to Real. However, with the special one's impending departure, and possible return to Chelsea,

it is likely that the talented Colombian will end up in the Premier League this summer, with the two Manchester giants believed to be in hot pursuit.

Like Falcao, Edinson Cavani is one of, if not the best striker to hail from South America in recent years. Signed from Palermo in 2010 for around seventeen million Euros, Cavani has gone on to score over ninety goals for Napoli, bagging thirty-two already this season.

Manchester City are believed to be his strongest suitors, however, Real Madrid have also expressed keen interest, and may be prepared to offer Karim Benzema as part of a deal. Cavani is contracted to Napoli until 2017 so the Naples side do not need to sell this summer, however, Cavani's personal ambitions may force a move to a bigger stage.

Last but not least we have the rising star that is Polish international, Robert Lewandowski. Well known to many across Europe, he is surely the World's most sought after striker thanks to his epic semi-final performance against Real Madrid.

'Lewy' as he is referred to by the Dortmund faithful, notched 30 goals for Borussia last season and has already surpassed last seasons tally with 35 so far this term.

His contract expires next summer so Dortmund, if they wish to receive a fee, will have to sell this summer or they may risk losing him on a Bosman free in 2014.

Sir Alex Ferguson is a well-known fan, having narrowly missed out on bringing the former Lech Poznan star to Old Trafford last summer. A transfer to Munich was already believed to be agreed, however the recent revelation of Mario Gotze's €32 million move puts a question mark over this potential deal.

Regardless of where these three individuals end up, there is little doubt that they are amongst the best strikers to grace Europe in recent seasons.
