Wayne Rooney hails Manchester United’s PFA Team of the Year quartet

Published 3 Comments

Wayne Rooney has paid tribute to quartet of Manchester United players selected into the PFA Team of the Year.

The England striker missed out on selection himself, but strike partner Robin Van Persie got the nod on the same day he scored the equalizer against old club Arsenal in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

David de Gea, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick were also selected by their fellow professionals, suggesting the Red Devils spine has been key to their success in the Premier League this season.

He wrote on his official Facebook page: “Buzzing for De Gea! Selected alongside Michael, Robin and Rio in the PFA Team of the Year! Well deserved lads!”

Rooney was not in attendance at the Awards ceremony, and instead travelled back to Old Trafford with his teammates after the clash in north London.

And, the 27-year-old posted a picture on the social media channel alongside some of his teammates, admitting the point was a hard-fought one. He also paid tribute to the fans for their support.

“Decent point today at a tough ground. On the way back home now with the lads. Fans were great as always, thanks for the support,” he added on Facebook.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are next in action against Chelsea at Old Trafford, and Rooney will be hoping to feature against the Blues.
