Manchester United striker target agent plays down Old Trafford move

Published 18 Comments

Robert Lewandowski's agent has moved to cool talk his client could be joining Manchester United in the summer.

The Polish international may be on the move this summer after turning down the option of extending his contract with Borussia Dortmund beyond it's current 2014 expiry date.

Bayern Munich have been heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old in recent months, while Manchester United have a long-standing interest in him as well.

The Red Devils reportedly were keen on signing Lewandowski last summer - but opted to sign Robin van Persie instead.

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted last week that he would be able to find room for the talented forward in his squad despite the fact he can already call upon four strikers.

However his agent, Maik Barthel, said that while Lewandowski is a fan of the Premier League and would like to play there one day, a move to England this summer might come too soon.

"I can tell you only one thing - Robert is interested in the future coming to the Premier League," he told the Guardian.

"The Premier League is very interesting for Robert. How long is the future, I cannot say to you. I think this summer is not the future."

That leaves Bayern Munich as his most likely destination this summer, however Borussia Dortmund remain adamant that they won't sell up, to their rivals or anyone else.
