Hamburg star 'flattered' to be linked with Arsenal
Arsenal transfer news: Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler welcomes Premier League interest
The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to north London in recent weeks, as Arsene Wenger continues his search for a new addition to rival current first-choice stopper, Wojciech Szczesny.
Szczesny has struggled for form this season, and recently lost his place in the Gunners first-team to Lukasz Fabianski, before reclaiming the number one spot when his Polish compatriot cracked a rib, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2012/13 campaign.
Arsenal have been credited with an interest in a number of different custodians ahead of the summer transfer window reopening on July 1, and Adler is believed to head that shortlist.
"I am under contract with Hamburger, but for every professional it will be a pleasure and honour to get linked with a club like this," said the Germany international.
"This is flattering. It will absolutely hand me more motivation, I will not lose my focus."
Adler still has four years to run on his Hamburg contract, so a switch to the Emirates Stadium is by no means certain, particularly after the club's general manager Frank Arnesen played down suggestions the two parties have already held negotiations about a transfer.
"It's obviously a fact Arsenal FC is on the search for a goalkeeper," he told German newspaper Bild. "But thus far no-one from Arsenal FC has been in touch with our club."
