A Brazilian amateur cup final descended into chaos at the weekend, with a referee choked and assistant referee hit by a stone.

The mayhem ensued during the Copa Sul dos Campeões clash between Internacional and São Defende, with red cards, goals and fists flying throughout the contest.

Inter took the lead early before controversy struck, with referee Edesio Weber sending-off a São Defende player for appearing to punch an opponent.

However, Weber also delivered a red to the injured party, earning an angry reaction from the Inter players.

Their coach also waded in, grabbing the referee by the throat before being pulled off by other officials in a moment of incredible madness.

A stone then struck the man with the flag and fencing around the pitch collapsed as chaos continued to reign both on and off the pitch.

But, somehow, the match continued until the end, with Inter eventually running out 3-0 winners. Both clubs have also agreed to pay for the damaged fence!
