Bayern have scored 21 goals in their last five games in all competitions and hold a 4-0 advantage going into their second leg semi final against Barcelona tonight.

However, Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes still believes Barcelona are the top side in European football, but the retiring coach has set his sights on seeing off the Catalans at the Nou Camp tonight.

Heynckes told reporters: “We have our philosophy and we have shown that we are a great team and that we can perform at a high level."

Stressing that there was no way his team was going to get carried away by the 4-0 result from the first leg at the Allianz Arena, Heynckes declared

“We are not going to play defensively tomorrow. We will be brave and we are going to try to score.”

Not wanting to appear as “lucky winners”, the Bayern Munich tactician underlined that it was important his men proved that the first-leg result at the Allianz Arena was not a fluke.

He has acknowledged Barcelona’s greatness, saying: “For me, Barca continue to be the best team in the world and we have prepared accordingly.”

Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid all employed negative techniques at some point to prevent Barcelona from running away victorious in their respective semifinal matchups between 2009 and 2012.

Conversely, Bayern are willing to show their courage and try something new, in search of survival at the intimidating Camp Nou on Wednesday.

If ever the Germans succeed, then they will be reaching their second Champions League final in a row.

Certainly, this is an idea Bayern Munich fans have reasons to savor; but for the time being, the players prefer to stay cautious.

Fearing punishment from Barcelona’s No.10 ace, attacking midfielder Thomas Muller stated: “I hope I am wrong, but I think we will see a different side of [Lionel] Messi, compared to what we saw in Munich [last week].”

Messi was the outstanding player of the match on Saturday in La Liga against Athletic Bilbao. Having recovered from his injury sustained in Paris, the Argentine is set to start against Bayern in the return leg.
