Manchester City are reported to be on the verge of agreeing deal that will see Brazil international Fernandinho leave Shakhtar Donestsk for the Etihad Stadium during the summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are in negotiations to claim the signature of Fernandinho, while reports in Italy claim a £23 million deal for the 27-year-old midfielder was agreed in January.
The Brazilian appears set to bring add an extra creative edge to a Manchester City midfield already boasting the likes of David Silva and Samir Nasri, with last season's Premier League winners move early in order to capture their man.
Fernandinho played a prominent role in taking Shakhtar beyond the group stages of this season's Champions League, and scored for the Ukrainian side in the 2-1 victory over the reigning champions at the Donbass Arena.
Shakhtar were defeated in the round of 16 by eventual finalists Borussia Dortmund 5-2 on aggregate, having lost star player Willian to Anzhi Makhachkala during the January transfer window, and now it would appear they are set to lose another prized asset.
Fernandinho has scored 52 goals in 280 appearances for Shakhtar since joining the Ukrainian champions from Brazilian outfit Atlético Paranaense in 2005.
