Chelsea have reportedly agreed for Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho to return to the club this summer, while Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao will be the first marquee signing of the Portuguese's second term at Stamford Bridge.

According to Goal.com, Chelsea have made a major breakthrough in negotiations with Mourinho and the 50-year-old is now set to succeed interim boss Rafael Benitez as the club's next permanent manager, when the Spaniard's tenure expires.

Falcao, meanwhile, will reportedly follow Mourinho to Chelsea during the summer transfer window with the Blues set to strike a €59 million deal for the Colombian, who is represented by the same agent - Jorge Mendes - as his future manager.

Mourinho is reported to regard the 27-year-old as a superior option to current Chelsea strikers Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, and Falcao is set to play a pivotal role when the former Blues boss arrives back in west London.

It is claimed the main sticking point in negotiations between Mourinho and Chelsea was how much power the ex-Inter manager will have in terms of player signings, with technical director Michael Emenalo currently chief of recruitment.

Mourinho, however, appears satisfied enough that he will have influence in the transfer market at Chelsea, and his three-year stay with Real Madrid looks set to end come the conclusion of the season.

The former Porto chief hinted on Tuesday night following Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund that a return to England could be on the cards, and that all will be revealed in the summer.
