Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski that he wants the striker in his team – but not at Real Madrid.
German magazine Sport Bild have claimed that Mourinho has entered the race for the Borussia Dortmund star and wants him at Chelsea, should he take over there this summer.
Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Lewandowski, with Sir Alex Ferguson hinting at possible interest this week, but the involvement of Chelsea could threaten the Old Trafford club’s chances of landing him.
The report, sourced by Sport Witness, claims the former Inter Milan manager is already making a shopping list for a likely switch to Chelsea.
Numerous reports have surfaced on Wednesday tipping Mourinho to depart the Santiago Bernabeu for a second stint at Chelsea under Roman Abramovich.
Lewandowski may have speeded the Portuguese’s Real Madrid departure when he fired four goals past them in their Champions League semi-final last week.
Los blancos managed to win the return leg 2-0 on Tuesday night but it was not enough and a 4-3 aggregate defeat means Mourinho only has the Copa del Rey left as a possible trophy.
Manchester United and Chelsea are not the only two interested in Lewandowski, as Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich have also been heavily linked with him.
