Pep Guardiola is ready to scupper Liverpool and Manchester United moves for talented young Italian Angelo Ogbonna.
According to talkSPORT, Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign the Torino defender as Guardiola identifies the new recruits he wants for next season when he takes up the reins in Bavaria.
It also claims Liverpool have been watching the 24-year-old closely in the past few months, though they would struggle to match the spending power and lure of Bayern.
Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers would have found it hard enough to land Ogbonna ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Old Trafford manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been credited with an interest in the Italy international for some time now.
Ferguson has revealed the Premier League champions expect rivals Manchester City and Chelsea to spend big this summer and Manchester United officials have assured him there will be a sizeable transfer budget to stay ahead of the game.
However, the English clubs could struggle if Bayern Munich make their interest concrete.
The Bundesliga champions have already signed Mario Götze – the star man from rivals Borussia Dortmund – for next season and the lure of working with Guardiola was supposedly a big factor in his decision.
Ogbonna is a powerful centre-back and has made five appearances for the Italian national team.
