Premier League: Breakthrough stars of 2013/14
Which Premier League stars can take the 2013/14 season by storm?
Every season, certain stars come through and show their quality. This season, just to name a few, players such as Christian Benteke, Romelu Lukaku, Michu and Matija Nastasic have all impressed throughout the campaign.
But which players will shine and take the Premier League by storm in 2013/14.
Here we take a look at which players can breakthrough and become a Premier League star next season:
1. Phillipe Coutinho:
A January signing for the Reds, Coutinho has already shown us what he is capable of. With only nine games played, he has already managed two goals and four assists. He is certainly one for the future, but don’t discount him for the upcoming season!
This lad shows flair typical of Brazilians, and could be one of the key players around which manager Brendan Rodgers could build his Liverpool legacy. This season, he has not had a lot of time to show what he is made of, but he has shown enough.
Next season, we will most certainly see the talent of this burgeoning young star who could go on to become a Liverpool revival legend, starting next year!
2. Wilfried Zaha:
A marquee signing for Manchester United, Wilfried Zaha’s talent is evident for everyone to see. Recent winner of the PFA Championship Player of the Year award, Zaha could be the next big winger for Manchester United.
His exploits have already earned him a senior England call-up, and with his future safe with United, expect Zaha to make a splash next year in the Premier League.
3. Shinji Kagawa:
His debut season could have gone a lot better, but the Japanese wasn’t exactly a flop this season. In the beginning, he failed to cope with the physicality of British football, having been imported from the German league. And then he went down with injury. But towards the end of the season, he has been putting together good performances, including the hat-trick against Norwich. His splendid performances have also caused Rooney to drop back to midfield when Kagawa plays behind Robin van Persie.
So, next season, we can expect Kagwa to fit into United squad completely and make his presence known to all the Premier League teams!
4. Jack Butland:
One of the most coveted England starlets is about to make his Premier League debut next season - in a Stoke City shirt. Jack Butland snubbed approaches from Chelsea and Manchester City to sign up for Stoke, citing the availability of first team opportunity as the reason he joined the Potters ahead of the other teams.
Interestingly enough, Stoke’s current number one, Asmir Begovic is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and given his consistent performances throughout the season, it is hard to see Butland push him to the bench. However, since Begovic is seemingly threatened by this new acquisition, we can be certain of one thing, Butland will not be a benchwarmer for the next season.
If the hype surrounding him is anything to go by, he is another breakthrough star of 2013/14.
