Manchester United will have to fight off interest from Inter Milan and Benfica if they want to land Anderlecht starlet David Henen.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a move for the 17-year-old for some time but Belgian publication Voetbalkrant has claimed Inter Milan and Benfica are ready to rival the Old Trafford club.

Henen is a very talented attacker and has been tipped for big things are some impressive performances for the Anderlecht Under-19 squad, which must have caught the eye of Manchester United scouts.

Anderlecht have reportedly put a £3.5million price tag on Henen, though Manchester United may baulk at such a fee for a player so young.

Ferguson may have despatched scouts to watch him play for the Under-19s but Henen’s lack of first team football could put them off such an investment.

However, the reported interest of Inter Milan and Benfica could well mean Anderlecht get something closer to their targeted amount, should the three teams enter into a bidding war.
