If Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to bring Jose Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge, the Russian is going to have to fork out £12m for the Portuguese coach, according to the Daily Mail.

The Real Madrid manager had a break clause inserted into his contract - signed in the summer of 2012 for four years - which leaves him contracted to the Bernabeu until 2016, unless someone spends big to sign him.

If Chelsea want to make Mourinho their manager, they will have to pay up to a year of his current contract in order to bring him back to the Bridge.

It has been made public knowledge that Mourinho will leave Real Madrid in the summer - and he all-but confirmed that after his side lost in the Champions League semi-final to German side Borussia Dortmund.

The Portuguese manager was having an interview with ITV after the game and confirmed that he wants to go somewhere where he is loved.

It is reported that Mourinho is not a loved figure in Spain, even amongst the Real Madrid fans, and that is the main driving force behind him wanting to leave the Bernabeu.

And it looks like he could be making a heroes return to Chelsea, a club where he was loved, this summer.

If Chelsea do spent £12m to secure Mourinho's services, this will not be the first time they have spent big to recruit a new coach.

In 2011, the Blues paid just over £13m to FC Porto in order to bring Andre Villas-Boas to west London.
