Cazorla deserved place in PFA Team of the Year, says Wenger
Arsenal news: Arsene Wenger believes Santi Cazorla should have been selected in the PFA Team of the Year
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he is surprised that midfielder Santi Cazorla did not get a spot in the PFA Team of the Year as he believes the Spaniard fully deserved to be included.
The ex-Malaga player has been in superb form all season for Arsenal and has been an influential man in the heart of their midfield.
The midfield players that did get into the Team of the Year were; Manchester United's Michael Carrick, Tottenham's Gareth Bale and Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Juan Mata.
Cazorla is the only Arsenal player to have featured in every single Premier League game so far this season, starting 34 and making one substitute appearance.
The Spaniard has contributed well in his debut season by scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists for the club and his exclusion from the PFA Team of the Year has surprised and disappointed his boss Arsene Wenger.
The Arsenal manager believes his midfield-maestro should have been included because of his consistency all season and also the level of quality he has shown throughout the campaign.
“I am sure he must have been very close to be in there,” Wenger told Arsenal Player: “In my opinion he deserved to be there based on the consistency and quality of his performances.
“And then there are the number of chances and assists he created. I think he deserved to be in there.”
