Video: Striker stunned after two-yard open-goal miss in Poland

Published 8 Comments

Barely a day goes by without another 'miss of the season' contender - and today's no different.

Every Tom, Dick or Harry has a mobile phone to record video these days, and it just turns out this one's a little more fancy. Full HD! You lucky things.

Taken from a Polish league amateur match last week, a Czarnych Wroblewo forward breaks the offside trap and charges towards the goal.

Trailing in support are two teammates - busting a gut for the chance of a tap in.

The number 11 breaks forward, he's in position, what celebration will he choose - the Robbie Keane roll, the Roger Milla corner flag jig, maybe even the Eric Cantona pose!

Ah. No. That wasn't supposed to happen. A sharp bobble as the ball rolls across and the dream is over. The ground threatens to swallow him up, but cruelly doesn't, leaving him red-faced in the six-yard box.

His teammate limply nods the ball into the empty net. He's offside. He knew he was. It's a total disaster.

Check it out in the video below...
