Chelsea star Frank Lampard edges closer to LA Galaxy move

Published 8 Comments

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is edging towards a summer transfer window move to the MLS after his fiancé Christine Bleakley reportedly agreed to join him in Los Angeles should he join the Galaxy.

According the Daily Mail, Lampard is likely to join LA Galaxy should he leave Chelsea at the end of his contract, which expires at the end of the season, and Bleakley has now given the green light to a switch to the USA.

The Galaxy have been courting Lampard for a number of the months, and the Chelsea legend is reported to have identified a number of potential properties in the area, should he leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Lampard had appeared set to call time in his Chelsea career come the end of the campaign with the club initially deciding against offering the 34-year-old the opportunity to extend his 12 year stay in west London.

However, more recent reports have claimed Chelsea have approached Lampard about signing a new contract with the club, although the appointment of a new manager could have a bearing on his future as a Blue.

Jose Mourinho remains odds on favourite to succeed Rafael Benitez as the club's next boss, and the Portuguese would surely retain the services of Lampard for at least one more year, given his endeavours during their first spell together at Chelsea.
