This week saw complete domination for German football as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund saw off their Spanish counterparts Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Looking at Barcelona last night, it seemed before the game they would have given Bayern a fight in order to secure their place in the final.

However, in reality while watching the game unfold, the Bundesliga champions continued to be by far the better team. With a superb goal from Robben after 48 minutes it was game over for the La Liga leaders.

Things went from bad to worse for the Spanish giants after 72 minutes when Pique managed to score a beautiful goal in the wrong net. If the own goal was not bad enough for Barcelona, the pain of a third and final goal four minutes later occurred with a lovely run from Ribery down the left-wing, who crossed to the head of Muller as he knocked it past Valdes.

It could be argued that Barcelona were missing their main man Lionel Messi on the field and I would agree. It seemed that when they were able to get the ball on the attack, they lacked that goal scoring ability that the Argentine obviously has.

However with the likes of Pedro, Fabregas, Villa and Iniesta and later subbed on Sanchez, the Spanish club should have possessed the firepower to penetrate Neuer’s goal.

So Bayern now face their German rivals Borussia Dortmund in the final after Dortmund knocked out the other Spanish giants Real Madrid with an aggregate 4-3 victory.

This final could be one to remember as Dortmund are not a team to be written off. Both have won the trophy in the past and both seem to have the hunger needed for success.

As seen before many times in football, anything can happen. But one thing is for certain, a game that includes the likes of Reus, Gotze, Hummels and Lewandowski on one side and Robben, Kroos, Ribery and Muller on the other; it will most definitely be a game worth watching.
