As the Premier League enters it's final month, the four nominees for manager of the month for April have been released.

The four nominated managers are; Chelsea's Rafael Benitez, Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsenal's Arsene Wenger Aston Villa's and Paul Lambert.

It was announced today on Sky Sports News that these were the four nominated and the announcement of who wins, will be made tomorrow afternoon.

As the four wait to hear who wins April's Manager of the Month, we look into why the four have been nominated in the first place.

Find out below why the four have been nominated.

Rafael Benitez

Despite being a less-than-loved figure amongst the majority of Chelsea fans, Benitez has guided Chelsea to a very impressive April. Out of the four Premier League games played in April, Benitez's men won three of them and drew the other.

April started with a 2-1 win at home to Sunderland and was then followed up with a 3-0 away win at Craven Cottage.

Just four days later, Chelsea travelled to Anfield and were moments away from picking up all three points, but a Luis Suarez goal denied Benitez the perfect month after the game ended 2-2, but they got back to winning ways at home to Swansea as they won 2-0.

Sir Alex Ferguson

Despite only winning two out five games, Sir Alex Ferguson has still been nominated for April's Manager of the Month and that may be because it was the month United secured their 20th league title.

The month started off with a 2-1 home defeat to rivals Manchester City, but they soon got over the derby-day defeat by beating Stoke City 2-0 away from home.

United were then held 2-2 at Upton Park by West Ham United, but the following week, they secured the Premier League title yet again with a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa.

United ended the month with a 1-1 draw away at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger

The current in-form Premier League team and their incredible run has seen them back in with a shot at finishing in the top-four, something that seemed a long-shot a few months ago.

Arsene Wenger has guided his side to three wins out of five with the other two results being draws against the likes of Everton and champions Manchester United.

The Gunners started the month with a 2-1 away win against West Bromwich Albion and they followed that up with an impressive 3-1 win over Norwich City.

After being held at home by Everton, they then went to Craven Cottage and picked up a 1-0 win and then ended the month off with a 1-1 draw against United.

Paul Lambert

Despite being in a relegation battle, Aston Villa's Paul Lambert has been nominated for Manager of the Month after guiding Villa to two wins out of four.

They picked up an impressive three points away at Stoke City after beating them 3-1, which was then followed up by a 1-1 draw against Fulham.

Villa then went to Old Trafford and as expected picked up no points as they were beaten comfortably 3-0, but then ended the month on a high by thrashing Sunderland 6-1 at home with a Christian Benteke hat-trick being the highlight.

The seven points picked up in April could be the deciding factor in their fight for survival.
