Arsenal are amongst the leading contenders to sign Julio Cesar from Queen’s Park Rangers in the summer, according to reports.
Metro claims the Brazilian stopper is in line for a move to either the Gunners or AC Milan at the end of the season, after his agent revealed that he’s to leave Loftus Road.
Cesar has been a rare ray of light in a disastrous campaign for the Hoops, with the west London club set to ply their trade in the Npower Championship next year after relegation from the Premier League.
The 33-year-old stopper won’t be representing the R’s in the second-tier however, with Josias Cardoso confirming his client is looking for a new challenge in Europe.
“I’m coming to Europe to talk to Julio about the future. He is looking for a new team with potential,” said Cardoso, according to Metro.
“Going back to Brazil? I don’t think so – I see him having a future in Europe.”
The paper claims Harry Redknapp would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £5million for the stopper, putting both Arsene Wenger and Massimiliano Allegri on alert.
Arsenal would certainly benefit from a safe pair of hands between the sticks at the Emirates Stadium, with neither Wojciech Szczesny or Lukasz Fabianski able to make the position their own in north London.
Cesar would add huge experience to the Gunners if he were to join, although the lure of the San Siro could pull the stopper back to Serie ‘A’.
