AC Milan have threatened to ruin Arsenal fans’ dream of welcoming Cesc Fabregas back to Emirates Stadium.
According to Calciomercato, Barcelona are considering selling the 25-year-old after his failure to perform consistently since he switched to Camp Nou in 2011.
Reports earlier in the week claimed manager Arsene Wenger was interested in bringing his former captain back to the Gunners.
The Calciomercato report claims the Catalan club management staff had expected more of Fabregas since they paid £35million to take him back to the club he left as a teenager.
It also says the Spain international will seek assurances at the end of the season about his position in the team after spending much of this season playing as a centre-forward, or as the ‘False Nine’.
Fabregas was initially seen as a natural successor to Xavi and Andres Iniesta in the midfield, but he has struggled in the more advanced role.
His indifferent form has led to him being booed and whistled by Barcelona fans, a far cry from when they were rejoicing at the La Masia graduate going home.
Arsenal fans would likely welcome back Fabregas with open arms, as the former Gunners skipper is still held in high regard by the Emirates Stadium faithful.
Howeverm the report claims AC Milan have a long held interest in Fabregas and could be tempted to make the bid in the region of €30million, which it claims is the number Barcelona would be looking for.
