Manchester United are being linked with a summer move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
The Daily Express claim Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on adding the German international midfielder at the end of the season, with the Scot looking to revamp his midfield at Old Trafford.
Manchester City had also been linked with a move, according to the paper, with the Champions League finalists valuing the player in the region of £17million.
Gundogan played a key role in Dortmund’s 4-3 aggregate victory over Real Madrid in the semi-final of Europe’s premier club competition, proving his ability on the biggest stage in club football.
And, with Paul Scholes reaching the end of his Manchester United career and Anderson tipped to leave the Premier League champions, Gundogan could be the answer.
The 22-year-old has been coy on his future in the past, although was happy to admit that one day he wants to play in either England or Spain.
"It is not reprehensible to answer such questions (of a future career in England or Spain) with 'yes'. Everyone has a childhood dream on what he would like to achieve one day and my dream always was to play in England or Spain," he told Sport Bild.
The Red Devils could fulfill that wish, although BVB will not want to lose another star after Mario Gotze agreed a deal with Bayern Munich last month.
