Arsene Wenger wants to stay for bright Arsenal future
Arsenal news: Arsene Wenger wants to stay with Gunners to guide them through good times
Arsene Wenger wants to stay as Arsenal manager beyond his current contract and believes the club is ready to go on to great things.
There were reports this week claimed he could be ready to leave the Gunners for big-spending Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain.
However, he dismissed the rumours and insisted he wanted to remain with Arsenal to enjoy what he believes will be a bright future.
Wenger admitted the last few years have been difficult for the north Londoners but predicted great things as the club’s financial situation improves.
He also felt that Arsenal had dealt responsibly with financial difficulties over the past few years and would reap the benefits soon.
"I want to stay if I do well and if I consider or the club considers that I do well, that is all. I want this club to do well, that is my basic feeling,” he told reporters.
"We have gone through a period that was very sensitive, we are coming out of it now, in a much stronger position financially.
"I believe the club is in a very strong position for the future. For the rest, my own person is less important, what is important is the future of the club."
Crucial to the future Wenger is describing for Arsenal is Champions League football and their top four place is still uncertain.
The Gunners travel to relegated QPR in the late kick-off on Saturday and must win if they are to stay ahead of rivals Tottenham Hotspur in fourth to claim the last Champions League qualification place.
