Evening Report: May 3

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has warned Arsenal they will have to dig deep if they want to sign goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

The Brazil international is being linked with a summer move across London to the Emirates, with the 33-year-old reportedly reluctant to drop down a division to the Championship.

Interim Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for April.

Benitez is the first Chelsea manager to win the award since Carlo Ancelotti in April 2011, after he oversaw an unbeaten month with three wins from four games.

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has jumped to the defence of under-fire team-mate Joe Hart.

The England goalkeeper has come in for criticism for the gaffe he made against West Ham last weekend, but Lescott insists he'll bounce back from his error with a commanding performance against Swansea this weekend.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has scooped the Premier League Player of the Month Award after his return of six goals helped secure a record 20th English top-flight title.

The Dutchman missed out on the recent Player of the Year accolade to Tottenham's Gareth Bale, but his fine form has been rewarded with another individual trophy.

Mauricio Pochettino says Gareth Bale would not have been allowed to leave Southampton and move to White Hart Lane under the south coast club's current regime.

The Welsh winger will face his former club on Saturday in what will be his 200th senior Spurs appearance since arriving in north London in 2007.

And finally, Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta believes wrapping up the Liga title will be the perfect antidote to their Champions League humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich in midweek.

The Germans' ruthless 3-0 win at the Camp Nou on Wednesday saw them inflict Barca's worst ever European defeat 7-0 on aggregate and Iniesta admitted that after so much success in recent years it was a bitter pill to swallow.
