Spurs confident of signing Montpellier star

Published 4 Comments

Spurs gaffer Andre Villas-Boas could try and capture the signature of Younes Belhanda after owner of Montpellier Louis Nicollin  made the player available.

AVB could capture Belhanda this summer with a £8 million price tag on the Moroccan international.

The bearded Spurs chief with the Essex sweep failed with a bumper bid last year but news from the Montpellier owner suggests the player could be sold to another club.

Louis Nicollin, the owner of the French outfit has said the 23-year-old has already told him that he wants to find a new club.

The Montpellier top man said: "The door is open for Younes to find a bigger club."

"I don’t know where he’ll go yet but he wants to leave. I want at least £8million for him."

The Morocco player is on decent wages at Montpellier, having been handed a large pay rise when the club raced to the Ligue 1 title back in 2012.

Arsenal and Turkish side Fenerbahce have previously shown an interest in him but neither club are thought to hold a current interest in the player.

Spurs are believed to see Belhanda as a part of a mini-summer squad upgrade. Whether they will have Gareth Bale for next season remains to be seen as speculation surrounds the double PFA award winner.

Tottenham take on Southampton at White Hart Lane on Saturday as they look to keep their hopes of Champions League qualification alive.
