Manchester United v West Ham

Perhaps the most controversial story in Premier League history. West Ham had a squad “too good to go down” after landing superstars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano – but in 2007 they stood on the precipice – staring down financial ruin and the possibility that they may not be back in the top tier for some time.

Somehow Alan Curbishley’s side hauled them back into contention with a superb run of form and secured their place in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Manchester United thanks to a goal from, you guesses it, Tevez. Sheffield United were not happy...
