Arsenal are reported to be in contact with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, as the Gunners look to capture a marquee player following the acquisition of Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina.

According to, the Gunners are interested in claiming the signature of Lewandowski in the summer transfer window and have added themselves to the growing list of clubs pursuing the Poland international.

The Gunners are reported to have identified Lewandowski as a potential high-profile addition before August's transfer deadline with Arsene Wenger hoping to recruit two strikers over the summer months.

Arsenal, however, remain behind Manchester City and Manchester United in the race to sign Lewandowski, while Bayern Munich are expected to secure a deal to bring him to the Allianz Arena.

Wenger, it is claimed, is also monitoring Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko, who has frequently been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.

Dzeko has made only 14 stars in the Premier League this term, but has managed to contribute 12 goals, and his future as a Manchester City would appear to be in doubt.

The 27-year-old is reported to have been outlined, along with Lewandowski, as a transfer target that would signal Arsenal's intent in the market, with the north London club already close to bringing Stevan Jovetic to the Emirates Stadium.
