Rumours are circulating surrounding the future of Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, amid speculation of a possible return to his former club Arsenal.
The Spaniard, who signed for the Catalan giants for £35 million in August of 2011, has struggled to maintain his place in the team this season; and seems to be growing unhappy at his lack of game time. Former Arsenal team mate Alex Song is also in a similar situation; having made just sixteen appearances this term; since joining last year.
Meanwhile Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has previously admitted he is convinced Fabregas will return to "the club he loves." This may be the time but the decision may depend on whether the Gunners secure Champions League football next season.
The Spanish midfielder himself has so far refused to comment on the situation, but has stated that ‘he knows where his future lies’. This could be Arsenal but there are also rumours linking the twenty five year old with AC Milan; who may try to hijack the deal.
Arsenal fans would certainly welcome back their former skipper with open arms, and he may be the ideal partner for Spanish magician Santi Cazorla in Arsenal's midfield. However with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere also in the squad, Wenger may struggle to accommodate Fabregas; if the deal was to happen.
There is also the issue of whether the Gunners can compete for trophies in the near future, which was one of the contributing factors to Fabregas leaving in the first place.
