Schalke 04 are on their way to another Champions League group stage thanks to Friday's win vs Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Royal Blues won 1-0 thanks to a Julian Draxler strike in the 82nd minute, which raised hopes of European football for Die Königsblauen, but ruined Monchengladbach chances of getting into one.

The 19-year-old whiz kid, who is wanted by Arsenal, Real Madrid and others, took a while to make his presence known until the second half, where he raised his game and Schalke started to look dangerous in attack.

Just after the 80' minute mark, Draxler gave the ball to Raffael, while he runs towards the centre of the box, Raffael gives it back and Julian sends it past Ter Stegen.

The 1-0 victory puts Schalke in fourth place, and gives them a three point gap against Eintracht Frankfurt who sit fifth in the Bundesliga.

However, they are seven points behind Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke will be certainly looking to snatch that third place, as the fourth place doesn't give them total security of playing in the Champions League, having to play a play-off round for a place in the group stages.

Schalke 04 involvement in this season's Champions League was quite good, winning Group B as Arsenal were favourites to take it.

They were eliminated by Galatasaray in the Round of 16, reaching a valuable 1-1 draw in Istanbul, but losing 3-2 at the Veltins Arena in the second leg.
