Premier League: Fastest goals of the last five seasons
Theo Walcott, Darren Bent & Steve Sidwell have scored the fastest Premier League goals in recent seasons
In each Premier League season, we tend to witness a few goals which come as a shock due to short amount of time they're scored after kick-off.
Here, we look at the fastest goals for each of the past five seasons in the top flight.
2008/09 season | Steve Sidwell | 31 seconds | Everton v Aston Villa
In a match which ended dramatically thanks to Ashley Young's 90th-minute winner seconds after Joleon Lescott's equaliser, it was Steve Sidwell who opened the scoring in stunning fashion as it took no less than 31 seconds.
The current Fulham man buried a strike from 20 yards at Goodison Park. The match ended 2-3 in a season where Everton, fifth, finished just a point ahead of Villa.
2009/10 | Darren Bent | 36 seconds | Sunderland v Tottenham
Prior to joining Aston Villa, the Englishman scored an early goal to help his side cause an upset over Spurs in April 2010.
In the same match, Bent had also scored a penalty following his early rebound goal before having two more penalty chances denied by goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes. This one finalised at 3-1 to the hosts at the Stadium of Light.
2010/11 | Maxi Rodriguez | 30 seconds | Fulham v Liverpool
The Argentina international kicked off his second hat-trick performance in three games with a simple close-range drive after the ball spilled in his favour.
A highly entertaining match to say the least as the Reds contributed five goals to a seven goal feat at the Cottage. Although, the more emphasised goal would have been his third, as a 25-yard screamer added insult to injury for the home side.
2011/12 | Andrea Orlandi | 24 seconds | Swansea v Wolves
The former Barcelona man scored what was to be just one of eight goals in this thrilling tie. The Spaniard headed home the opener after a great cross was delivered by Scott Sinclair.
It was the 28-year-old's first goal in two years as his side struggled to hold on to a 4-1 lead at the Liberty Stadium.
2012/13 | Theo Walcott | 22 seconds | QPR v Arsenal
Theo Walcott scored this season's fastest goal - and the fastest goal of the last five seasons. The lightning-quick Arsenal forward received a pass from Mikel Arteta before firing the ball past QPR's Robert Green to earn the Gunners all three points at Loftus Road.
