On Wednesday night, Chelsea host Tottenham in a London derby which will have added spice with Champions League qualification up for grabs.
A win for Chelsea will all but guarantee them a place in next season’s top European competition. The Blues are currently one point ahead of forth-placed Arsenal and three points clear of Tottenham in fifth.
Tottenham fans will have been cursing their past omens when Juan Mata scored a late winner at Old Trafford on Sunday, but with PFA Player of the Year Gareth Bale on top form they will travel to Stamford Bridge with little fear.
One man who missed Chelsea’s trip to Manchester was Eden Hazard, the Belgian was kept under wraps by Rafael Benitez with tonight’s game in mind after picking up a knock against Basel last Thursday.
However, Benitez did confirm that both John Obi Mikel and Ryan Bertrand will miss out.
“Hazard was training in a normal training session. He is fine, he is in the squad,” Benitez told Chelsea’s official website. "Mikel is not available, he is still in some pain. Bertrand is not available with a problem with his knee, nothing serious."
Mousa Dembele and Aaron Lennon are set to return to the Tottenham squad after both struggled to complete ninety minutes against Southampton on Saturday.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas confirmed both would be selected for tonight’s game despite Dembele posting a picture of himself in Amsterdam late on Tuesday night – where he is said to be recovering.
"Mousa and Aaron will be selected, whether or not they will be available is something we prefer to hold onto and let people know when we get there," Villas-Boas told Tottenham’s official website.
Jake Livermore is also set to return but the game comes too early for Sandro, William Gallas and Younes Kaboul who all miss out.
