Arsenal target set to leave QPR, admits Redknapp
Arsenal transfer news: Julio Cesar is not expected to stay at QPR for next season, confiirms Harry Redknapp
Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he thinks Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar will leave the club in the summer, but he reckons defender Christopher Samba will stay at Loftus Road.
QPR signed the goalkeeper from Italian giants Inter Milan last summer and on arrival, the keeper admitted that he wanted to play in the Champions League and was hoping that the club could achieve that, but unfortunately things haven't worked out for the London club.
Redknapp's men were relegated last weekend after drawing 0-0 to Reading and will face next season playing in the second-tier of English football.
Cesar missed the club's match with Arsenal at the weekend and was replaced by Robert Green and Redknapp revealed that was because of a back injury, but he also admitted that it's a tough choice he has to make as he believes Cesar won't be at the club some next season.
"He's had a little bit of back injury," said the Hoops boss to reporters.
"But it is a difficult one because I don't see him playing here next season, so I want to play Rob Green.
"I think Julio is a player for a top club, a top Italian team, a top Spanish team or a top Premier League team. He is good enough to play anywhere.
"Rob has come in and done well. Rob will probably be my goalkeeper next season.
"Julio is in the Brazil team. He is not a player for the Championship.
"He has got a World Cup coming up. He needs to be playing in the Premier League or a big league abroad."
Although they are facing a summer of losing a lot of their star players, Redknapp believes that he will be able to keep hold of record signing, Christoper Samba.
"I'd like to keep him, he'd be the best centre-half in the Championship," Redknapp said.
"He had one bad day at Fulham and everyone got on his case. He's a good player and we need him back playing.
"(But) I don't know what will happen."
