Manchester United in £40m 'el Clasico' fight over Gareth Bale
Manchester United transfer news: Old Trafford ready to rival Real Madrid & Barcelona for £40m Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are all expected to make bids in excess of £40million for Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale.
According to the Evening Standard, all three clubs are desperate to land the 23-year-old this summer but Spurs are determined to ifght off any interest.
Manchester United’s interest may be affected by the news that Sir Alex Ferguson is to retire at the end of the current season.
However, the Old Trafford club’s next manager is unlikely to be against the possibility of signing the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
Real Madrid have long been linked with a large bid for Bale, though they may struggle to fight off the advances of both Manchester United and rivals Barcelona.
Manager Jose Mourinho is expected to depart the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, which could affect any deal to land the Whit Hart Lane star.
Though any new Madrid manager, like the new man at Manchester United, is unlikely to be turned off by Bale’s record of 25 goals in 41 games from this season.
Despite claiming there is major interest from all of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, the Standard report also insists Tottenham are determined not to sell Bale this summer.
Chairman Daniel Levy is famously tenacious when it comes to negotiating and it claims he and the rest of the Spurs hierarchy are confident Bale will not attempt to force through a move in the way Luka Modric did last summer.
