A few players have spent a lot of their time out of the starting XI in the Premier League this season.

Here we take a look at a team of players that have spent a great deal of the 2012/13 season sitting on the bench.

GK: Brad Friedel - Tottenham

Despite his age the American still has what it takes to compete at the highest level. Brad Friedel who appeared for Spurs in all league games last season managed only 11 appearances this term.

RB: Fabio - QPR

The young full-back who is currently on loan from Manchester United is no doubt a talented player. When he arrived at Old Trafford he was considered better than his brother Rafael, but due to injury he was not able to establish himself and lost his position to his twin. He has made just 13 starts this season.

CB: John Terry - Chelsea

The Chelsea legend has been simply ignored this season especially since David Luiz established himself. Terry has only made 13 appearances with 10 starts this season.

CB: Jamie Carragher - Liverpool

A popular figure at Anfield Jamie Carragher is no doubt an amazing player, but age has hit him and his appearances have been limited this season. He only made it to the starting XI on 14 occasions this term.

LB: Ryan Bertrand - Chelsea

The 23-year-old defender who emerged into the first team from the Chelsea academy is an exciting young prospect and is tipped as Ashley Cole's successor. He was usually left out of the starting XI and got more game time after Cole's injury. He has so far made 19 league appearances with 14 starts.

RW: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain-Arsenal

A young player with a bright future Alex has shown his talents on the highest level this season. The 19-year-old has made 23 appearances this season but only half of them were starts.

CM: Tom Huddlestone - Tottenham

The 26-year-old is a handy midfielder with the ability to keep possession and make crucial passes. Despite his good shows he has only featured seven times in the starting XI in his 17 league appearances.

CAM: Samir Nasri - Manchester City

Nasri has been on the bench for a lot of City's games this season. He has only made 20 starts this season which is quite low for a player of his ability.

LW: Nani - Manchester United

Nani was amazing last season and expectations were high but he was not able to live up to them. He has made only seven starts in the league so far.

ST: Javier Hernandez - Manchester United

The 'super-sub' for the champions, Chicharito has made 19 appearances this season with only seven starts. In spite of this he has been able to score eight goals for his team.

ST: Daniel Sturridge - Liverpool

Since his arrival at Anfield the 23-year-old has shown what he is capable of. He spent the first half of the season at Chelsea where he only got one start. Liverpool have benefited more from the forward and he has scored seven goals in his 12 appearances for the Reds.
