Atlético Madrid boss Diego Simeone has caused a stir in Spain this week by announcing his interest in Liverpool’s Uruguayan Luis Suarez.
The Argentinian is preparing for a summer spending spree if star man Radamel Falcao leaves the club, according to Sky Sports.
Falcao has been constantly linked with a move away from the side from Spain’s capital this season as he has fired his team to third place in the Liga table.
With 26 league goals already this campaign, he was named in FIFA’s Team of the Year for 2012, in January.
With Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and PSG all said to be interested, there could be a bidding war in which a gigantic fee is commanded for the Colombian hit-man, with his current market value estimated at £53m by Transfermarkt.
If Falcao was to leave Atlético, manager Simeone would have a vast pool of money to play with this summer.
One of his targets could be Suarez, who has been linked with a move away from Liverpool recently following a tumultuous spell in England.
Simeone said: "I cannot speak badly about Luis Suarez, he is extraordinary."
But when pressed he refused to give an answer, stating: "We have a game coming up that means we have to leave other matters aside."
What do you think? Should Suarez go to Atlético? Could he replace Falcao?
