Chelsea will end their interest in Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao - and are ready to step up their attempts to land Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski.
The Express report that Lewandowski has moved to the top of Chelsea's summer transfer wish-list thanks to the impending arrival of Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, with Falcao no longer being considered.
Previous reports suggested Mourinho had texted Lewandowski to try and lure him to Chelsea, while the Polish international admitted this week he was flattered to have been targeted by the Real Madrid coach.
Describing the 'Special One' as a 'good coach', he said: "To be of interest in his view is a great honour".
The Express claim that the interest in Lewandowski, prompted by the arrival of Mourinho - which is far from certain as it stands - will put an end to their attempts to land the prolific Falcao from Atletico.
Lewandowski is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer having signalled his intent to not sign a new deal with the Champions League finalists, and has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich as well as the Premier League.
The news of Chelsea's interest will be of concern to Manchester United, who have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old for some time.
While Manchester United's transfer plans remain unclear in the aftermath of Sir Alex Ferguson's announcement that he will retire at the end of the season, reports this morning that striker Wayne Rooney could be on the move will only add to the speculation that a move for Lewandowski could be on the cards.
