Barcelona's Sergio Busquets spoke about how proud he is of his own team and the importance of securing the league title for the fourth time in five years.

The 24-year-old Spaniard has made 23 starts for Tito Vilanova's team this year and scored one league goal for the Catalan giants.

He spoke to reporters and the Barcelona official website: “We want to do this and more now that the weeks are so long. It’s the best thing to do as we deserve it and so do all the fans.

"The league is the tournament of regularity and the most important. What’s more, it would be the fourth league title in five years and that would be spectacular.”

Real Madrid beat Malaga 6-2 last night where Cristiano Ronaldo notched his 200th goal in 197 appearances, which keeps the title just alive but Barcelona are very close to securing the possession of the trophy.

Defensive midfielder Busquets has been struggling with a groin problem and still recovering. He said: “I’ve improved since I started the treatment. It’s a very complicated injury because some days are better than others. You have to take it slowly and hope that you’re on the right track. I know it won’t go away overnight”. However, he ruled out having an operation, adding: “I’m feeling better now”.

Javier Mascherano has resumed training with the Barca squad and seems he's on the road to recovery after his knee ligament injury which has sidelined the Argentine midfielder for five weeks.

Rumours surround the future of Carles Puyol but Busquets believes his teammate will continue to fly the flag for Catalonia: “He’s already denied these rumours. We’re all delighted with Puyol. Let’s hope he can carry on for many more years.

"He’s looking good to me and he’s on the mend. He’s got a difficult injury but he’s keen to get better as soon as possible. You always have to put a brake on him because he wants to be with the team and get better as soon as possible. Right now I can’t imagine Barca without Puyol and Valdés, but the day will come. The years go by and everything moves on.”

Barcelona go to the Atletico Madrid's Vincente Calderon on Sunday in search another league title. Should Real Madrid slip up then the trophy is once again Barcelona's.
