Ex-Manchester United defender set for Old Trafford return alongside Moyes

Published 1 Comments

Phil Neville could be about to make a dramatic return to Manchester United - as part of David Moyes' coaching staff.

The Everton boss is expected to be named as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Old Trafford after the 71-year-old announced his plans to step down after 26-years at the helm at Old Trafford yesterday

Now according to Goal.com, Moyes will look to take Neville to Manchester United with him as part of his coaching staff - eight years after the defender left the Red Devils to join Everton.

Neville recently announced his plans to retire from the game at the end of the season, and will join England U-21's for the European Championships in Isreal this summer as part of Stuart Pearce's staff.

Everton are also said to be interested in adding the 36-year-old to their backroom staff.

Should Neville opt to head back to Manchester United it would be another blow for the Toffees, who are expected to lose their manager of 11 years this week.

Moyes is expected to be handed the daunting task of replacing Ferguson, who won a remarkable 13 Premier League trophies in his 26-year-spell in charge of the club.
