Starting a game well is vital in a football match, if you score early on then you have a great advantage for the rest of the game.
An early goal gives your side a massive boost and it gives your opponents an uphill task.
After this weekend saw Arsenal's Theo Walcott score after just 20 seconds in a Premier League tie against Queens Park Rangers, we though we would look into the fastest ever goals in the Champions League, one of the best, if not the best competition in club football.
The fastest goal in the Champions League is 10.12 seconds, which was scored by Bayern Munich's Roy Makaay during their match with Real Madrid back in 2007. They won the game 2-1 in the end.
An Arsenal player does in fact make the top-10 fastest goal list in the Champions League and it was their Brazilian midfielder Gilberto Silva as he scored in a 4-0 win against PSV Eindhoven after just 20.07 seconds.
