This is most definitely the most intriguing transfer rumours to date. Manchester United have been desperate to have Ronaldo back since he left but there are downsides to a possible transfer.

Obviously Ronaldo would make the team's attacking force the most feared in Europe but will the pros be more important than the cons.

Cristiano Ronaldo is possibly the most complete footballer the world has ever witnessed and would therefore be an improvement on any squad.

He would take some off the goal scoring burden off talisman Robin van Persie and create some competition in the wide positions.

Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Luis Nani have all been very poor this season and Ronaldo's potential arrival would almost certainly spell the end of one or more of there career's at Old Trafford and also bring some much needed quality.

Ronaldo would make United definite contenders for Champions League glory which is something United have craved after a few disappointing campaigns in recent years.

Bringing him into a team that has already won the Premier league would mean they would have a very good chance of retaining their crown and more.

His experience and manner as a footballer would mean the younger players could learn a lot too which would also benefit the team. If he decided to rejoin United he will most definitely be an upgrade on the current crop.

Firstly the big one, how much will he be? It may take between £60 - £80 million for United to get their man. Manchester United quite simply dont have that kind of money to spend on one player. Also the fact he is 28 it means he has around five years at the most before he starts to have to change his style of play to take into account a possible loss of pace.

Would five years of top performance be enough for a possible £80 million transfer plus wage ? Another point you need to take into account would be, will he fit into the current united regime? United have used a 4-2-3-1 formation with left sided wingers being very often players like Welbeck. Ronaldo would provide a much more attacking threat going forward but would leave Patrice Evra much more open to a two on one.

Welbeck and Valencia have been pivotal in helping the defence in tracking back and Ronaldo would certainly not do that. Also with the recent news of Sir Alex retiring at the end of the season, would Ronaldo feel the same commitment and enthusiasm to the club in which he was managed under Sir Alex.

Another manager would need to try and have the same effect on Ronaldo as Alex had to bring out the same amount of top performances which could prove an impossible task.

There are many Pros and Cons to a possible transfer to Manchester United and as we cant be sure if he will join we can only guess what would happen if he joined. If a transfer does happen though it will be very risky but would be a great addition to the Premier League.
