Sparta Prague's 2-1 defeat against Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic Cup on Wednesday night was marred by a horrific leg-breaking tackle by Leonard Kweuke on Radek Dosoudil.
The 25-year-old striker was shown a straight red card for his malicious two-footed challenge on his opposition defender as he broke free down the left wing at the start of the second-half.
Dosoudil's reaction made it immediately clear that the Czechoslovakian was in great distress, after Kweuke's follow through on the shin of the defender caused a double fracture of the tibia and fibula.
He is expected to be out of action for around 12 months as he begins his recovery and rehabilitation from injury.
Meanwhile, Kweuke has been slapped with an unprecedented 12-game ban following the incident, which is the longest suspension handed out by the Disciplinary Committee of the Czech Federation (FACR) since the country's independence in 1993.
The Cameroon international's punishment begins with immediate effect, meaning he will miss the remainder of the 2012/13 campaign, and is unlikely to play for Sparta again until October.
