4. Eric Cantona: Manchester United v Liverpool – 1996

The French legend was back from his ban and at his best during the 1995-96 season – a point never more evident than during the ’96 final at Wembley.

Cantona was the stand-out player throughout the manager, but was unable to make a breakthrough heading into the final five minutes.

Sure enough, the forward delivered the goods in the 86th minute, connecting with a volley from the edge of the area, which somehow went through six Liverpool bodies and ended up in the back of the net. Look away now David James – video below…
