Video: Dinamo fans throw flares, bottles and a mobile phone at opposition players
Dinamo Bucuresti supporters bombard Steaua Bucuresti players with flares, bottles and mobile phones in Romanian derby
Steaua Bucuresti's 2-0 win over local rivals Dinamo Bucuresti in the Romanian derby on Friday evening was marred by crowd trouble, after home fans bombarded opposition players with flares, bottles, and a mobile phone.
The unsavoury scenes at the Arena Nationala came midway through the first-half, with the visitors already one goal to the good, courtesy of a deflected effort from Mansaly Boubacar.
But, as Alexandru Bourceanu went over to take a corner in the 35th minute, in front of the riled up Dinamo supporters, he was quickly forced to retreat to a safer position in the middle of the pitch, after an angry confrontation with a number of rival fans.
Daniel Georgievski was struck by what appeared to be a cellular device, thrown callously from the stands, while other objects were strewn all over the touchline.
The incident meant the game was suspended by more than 10 minutes, on the advice of referee Sebastian Coltescu, as tempers simmered between both sets of players, clearly affected by the poisonous atmosphere.
However, it was Steaua fans who had the last laugh once the match had restarted after calming the situation, when Cristi Tanase doubled the league champions' lead in the 70th minute, to ensure all three points went to the visitors.
