New Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is reported to have identified Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere as a transfer target for when he officially arrives at the Allianz Arena.
According to Metro, Bayern are keen to acquire the services of Wilshere in the summer transfer window, but are willing to wait another season before making an attempt to capture the England international.
Wilshere only signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal last December, but this would reportedly not deter Bayern were the Bundesliga champions to formalise their supposed interest in the 21-year-old.
The youngster remains committed to Arsenal having been forced to miss 17 months of action for the Gunners owing to injury, but Bayern reportedly hope he could be persuaded to leave the Emirates Stadium if the club fail to end their trophy drought next term.
Arsenal are without any silverware since their FA Cup triumph over Manchester United in 2005, and have reached just two domestic finals in the eight years since - both in the League Cup.
A Champions League place, however, remains the priority for Arsenal, and they could take a significant step towards achieving that goal this season if Tottenham are beaten by Stoke on Sunday.
