A video has emerged of soon to be departed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson dancing and belting out The Proclaimers' classic singalong anthem I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles).

Filmed by Soccer AM host Helen Chamberlain at Ferguson's annual charity bash in 2011, the video had been kept secret before being aired on TV this weekend following the announcement the 71-year-old would retire at the end of the season.

Famed for the hairdryer treatment of his players and berating match officials, Ferguson shows a rarely seen softer side as he larks about on stage wearing a ginger Jimmy wig.

The Manchester United boss looks relatively fleet of a foot for a man of his advanced years as he prances around, although his possibly whiskey-fueled vocals could do with some fine tuning.

Ferguson will preside over his final game at Old Trafford on Sunday as Manchester United face Swansea, before his farewell away at West Brom the following weekend.
