The first deal of this summer was tying down ex-QPR striker Patrick Agyemang on a two-year deal. This came as no surprise to the Fratton Park faithful after the striker impressed during his loan deal from Stevenage last season.
That deal was followed by 'keeper Phil Smith and right-back Yassin Moutaouakil signing one-year contracts.
Holding midfielder Romain Padovani arrived on a free transfer from Monaco and has been backed to shine by new manager Guy Whittingham. Perhaps the most exciting deals are Danny East and Sonny Bradley, two graduates from Hull’s youth academy.
Bradley, a tall left-sided defender, signed a two-year deal after reportedly rejecting offers from League One clubs and an unnamed Championship club. Danny East, who also signed a two-year deal, is a versatile left-back who can also play in midfield.
There are on-going negotiations with winger Matty Blair and striker Tom Craddock who would both be useful assets to Portsmouth as they begin life after relegation from League One. There is also talk of a return to the south coast for Marlon Pack, who is out of contract in the summer.
With all the speculation surrounding Portsmouth, the chances of a successful season look good. Whittingham will, however, make sure he keeps his players grounded ahead of a gruelling schedule as they bid to make an immediate return to England's third tier. With Portsmouth already the early favourites with bookies for promotion next year, Whittingham certainly has a busy summer ahead.
